Michael Schumann has been practicing law in Portland since 1974. Before that, he practiced in Detroit, Michigan, at Wayne County Neighborhood Legal Services. Upon moving to Portland in 1974, he was employed by Multnomah County Legal Aid through 1978, when he entered private practice with the firm of Parkinson & Jones.
Mike believes in his clients and this law firm: “We represent regular people rather than large corporations and insurance companies. We work cooperatively and attempt to provide our clients with outstanding personal service. For many years, we have fought to obtain justice for our clients, who have been taken advantage of or otherwise victimized by businesses and corporations who only care for the bottom line and are indifferent to the harm they cause to individuals.”
Mike is an experienced civil litigator having been involved in hundreds of civil cases. He currently concentrates his practice on employees' rights. Mike is especially interested in cases involving long-term employees who are forced from their jobs for discriminatory or retaliatory reasons. He also handles real property transactions, contract disputes, probates, small businesses and domestic relations matters. He can sometimes be persuaded to accept a personal injury claim. Mike spends his spare time, bicycling, hiking, rafting, swimming, sailing, skiing and practicing Yoga.
